Quick tranny fitment question.

Did a quick search but wanted to ask before bolting everything up for the last time. Im using a TII 5spd on this car and was installing the pilot bearing/seal and noticed something weird.
On my 13bt eshaft, I have about a 2" bore, in which the input shaft from the tranny fits into. However on the 20b I only have a 1" or so bore, just enough for the pilot bearing. The rest of the bore is filled with what looks like a brass or metal plug?

I have bolted the two together and seen no problems, so im not quite sure what to think. I just dont want any issues because I was supposed to remove this plug or something else?

Thanks.

Mine never had this type of plug, just a normal hole, and a pilot bearing slid right in, this is on a series c though....

My unlettered (early) engine also had just enough room for a pilot bearing. No problems going to manual.
