OEM 6 Channel Igniter Box

Does anyone have any experience with oem 6 channel igniter boxes? It seems like supra igniter boxes are fairly commonly used but they are a bit expensive. Does anyone know of any other 6 cylinder boxes that would work be it from a camry or an acccord or a malibu... ect?

What igniters do you have? The stock 20b ones are not 6 channel or even 3 channel each for that matter.

Well, I'll post back if I find something. A good 6 channel igniter would save some money if you are running igniterless coils or the stock coils.

What makes it tricky is that you are basically looking for a coil-on-plug car from the 90s that had an external igniter. There aren't many engines that did that--they were mostly wasted spark on 6 cylinders (3 channel). The turbo 2JZGTE engine is one example (non turbo had a dizzy) as you've pointed out. Nissan used coil-on-plug... my Q45 with VH41DE V8 engine was like that, and so is the 4 cylinder SR20. I think the 6 cylinder VG30 (300zx engine) has one because I know they are coil-on-plug. This might work: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-97...Q5fAccessories

Thanks, that module sure looks like it could work since it has 6 inputs and outputs. I will research that some more and report back.

I found the wiring diagram from a nissan maxima with a VE30DE and it appears to have 6 separate signals coming from the ECU to the "power transistor" and six separate signals going to 6 separate coils. It looks very promising.

As soon as I get the MS3 chip and have 6 ignition channels, I will post back the results.

Just FYI the Nissan 6 channel igniter works great so far, I got it off of Ebay with the plugs for $30. This is a really good alternative.

Why do you prefer the Acura module?

I opted for using proven stock FC igniters (6x) and coils (6x) from trailing coilpacks and never had any problems with them during 2 years of racing...

I was told to not use weak Nissan 300ZX or RB igniters and my friends with RB's have been replacing them too often for my taste....

I have had no problems with the unit so far and I have never heard of any issues with Nissan Maxima units. Temperature is everything for these units, I made a heat sink for the one I purchased and mounted it with thermal grease away from any heat sources and where air can flow over it.

If I start burning through them I will post an update.

when compared both, the acura's module made the coil deliver a stronger spark. coils were msd blaster
