Non-turbo 20B
Has anyone out there ever built a Non-Turbo 20B?
I know the topic has been discussed in the past and for the most part dismissed as being a waste of money, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Why? Because I’m sick of not having any torque down low.
My current plan is to take a stock 20B and replace the internals with S5 NA rotors. I will not port the engine in order to keep the intake velocities high. The engine will be going into an 86 NA, so the driveline will be upgraded to a Turbo II transmission, flywheel, and rear. For engine management I'm considering the Microtech LTX12. The exhaust will be mated to a custom header, silencer, and cat back
The GOAL of the project is to have a 220-230 RWHP daily driver without all of the heat/complexity of adding a turbo/innercooler.
SO AM I CRAZY? What am I missing in the equation? Is my RWHP goal unreasonable or conservative?

As for the intake, I'm planning on using the stock 3-rotor intake. Fabrication of a custom intake may happen after the inital build and install.

Think *Simple*.
If I was going forced induction, I would just stick with the turbo since all the fabrication has been done before.

i would put the turbo sleeves in it at the least and consider using renisis rotors cause they are cheaper, but other than that it sounds good

What do you mean by "Turbo Sleeves"? Are you refering to the exhuast port sleeves?

dammint you're right, with the 20b couterwieghts you need 9lbs rotors, so 89-02 rotors are the only ones you can use without rebalancing

I'm assuming that they are 9.54 lbs and 9.1 compression ratio? I haven't actually been able to find this info for 20B engines.

Care to elaborate? Or is this a top secret kind of project?
The thought has crossed my mind to NOT rebuild the 20B right away. Just run it NA with the 9.1 compression rotors. This way if I decide that I'm not happy with the HP, I could always remove the header and replace the turbo/IC.

We're trying to keep this project cheap and reliable at this point.&nbp Right now, a Haltech E6K is going to fire everything.  The coils are going to be a trio of leading FC coils running "simul-spark" firing of both leading and trailing for each rotor.  The car is going to be built as a street car with occasion track use for drifting events.
We're going to keep the stock intake manifold for now, although there are plans in the works for a custom "sheetmetal" (read:  lighter and more compact) intake manifold.  Look for dyno numbers off this thing by the end of the year...

Well, the deal wasn't sealed until a few adys ago.  The engine is going into a Zenki FC3S.  The owner is going to stay with NA cause he can't afford to break parts.  The car *IS* going to run a full Turbo II drivetrain, although it was originally an NA model.

sandor's T2 made 260rwhp and 280 tq with a reman and stock turbo.... 20B seems like MUCHO OVERKILL!

come on i have to hate since i don't have a 20B. i was pretty damn close to getting one for my T2 but i sold the car and my TEC III 6/12 unit....
i know about overkill........ driving a 10 second power FD on the street is overkill lol
