Cool non-matching 20b from japan price? looking at one on monday

Looking at a 20b at a local jdm engine supplier on monday. it's a stupid deal, so just trying to find out the worth of the engine if I don't plan on building it next 3 years. I've seen how to identify them, even though it seems difficult with stock rats nest/harness in the way. If the numbers do not match all housings/irons, what's the estimated worth of one?

I'm sorry for such a generic question, but it's a hefty price tag purchase.

If the compression is lost on a housing, is the engine almost worthless? shop hasn't spun the engine to check. Looking at pictures it has all stock emissions, turbos.

Motors range from 5K-7.5K depending on the series. Not much help, but if it is less than 5K and you check the compression I'd say go for it...

Interested in hearing what a "stupid deal" equates to in dollars.

Stupid deal was $1900 for a freshly imported 20b. The shop somehow thought it was a fd automatic engine. Called Saturday and they said it sold some days ago, which didn't make sense since I asked the day before if they had it and they said they did. So looks like somebody beat me to it

So won't be joining you 20b guys for some time.
