Moroso oil pan on eBay

Guys, I spotted this oil pan on eBaymotors:

I didn't even know Moroso made pans for rotaries. Or is this guy scamming? Anyone know for sure?

Moroso will make a custom oil pan to the customer's specs. However, I would imagine that they are not cheap since their regular production pans sell for about $275-500.

The pan for sale looks very well made, although those two bung holes look curious. I'm not sure if that pan would still clear the stock sway bar with the engine mounted in the stock position, but that would be nice if it does. If I remember correctly from fitting my engine, the front of the oil pan would need to be nearly flat (ala dry sump) in order to clear the 2Gen sway bar.

I would assume that
those two holes are to remove the pickup tube
to remove the pan from the motor, and to put it on.

Ah, that makes sense because of the X-brace.

I think i could make myself a pan that would look just like that for about 50 dollars
I would make it a little diffrent though, i would machine
some one inch thick plate aluminum for the front half
and intigrate the oil pickup into the plate making it much
lower profile to clear the sway bar at the front, then
add the tube once its back far enough then weld up
a regular looking pan at the back.
some day when i have time

would this pan work with a 3rd gen with the petit sub frame setup. I was going to pay a local shop between $100-$150 to build me a pan but would be willing to spend the $199 if i knew it would work.
would this be a wise choice for a very high HP 20B
does anybody know a part number, maybe the oil pan is a production piece that can be ordered new?

That pan seems to be one used mostly in full chassis pro drag cars. The one on Flaco Racing 20B 3rd gen looks the same. The two holes are for the scavenge or pickup for the dry sump. I don't think it was designed for the stock chassis or crossmember.

this oil pan will not work on anything other than as stated earlier, a rail car or custom chasis car or some sort. It will no way clear the steering rack on a 3rd gen. The pan needs to be completely flat for clearance.

I emailed that guy when the auction first went up to ask what it's aplication it was for. He told me it was to fit a 20b into a 3rd gen with the petit sub-frame.

That doesn't make any since. The stock oil pan will work with the Pettit sub-fram.

I have a petit frame and in putting the 20B in a 3rd gen the steering rack comes within 1 inch of the engines bottom with out the oil pan installed. That is why the cosmo oil pan is completely flush with the bottom of the motor and has 2-humps, one in front and one in the back. Good luck with ebay, just be careful of promises!

I bought a 20b intake from this guy and got it quickly with no hassle or problems. Plus he has good feedback. I think you can trust him.
