We have to keep the forward facing starter . The 20b bellhousing that we were instruct to use by collins is to thick ... there for the imput shaft doesnt reach the pillot bushing and the spline on it wont reach the clutch .
Its missing abit more then 1inch
Im looking to know whats the inner diameter on the 13b rew automatic bellhousing to comfirm it will work with the conversion plate (the way its machined , there is a step in the center that centers the bellhousing on top of all the bolts)

I was familiar with your issue as I had been looking at Tremec conversions and I also wanted to stay with the forward facing starter on my 20b Cosmo and realized the extra 40mm length was going to be an issue.

After asking on a Cosmo site the housings are both forward facing with the 13b B/H being about 40mm shorter. I did not get a spigot diameter but it looks like the 13b BH is the one your after.

that would be great !!! if you have them off the transmissions , could you mesure the height of the bellhousing next to each other see if there is a difference . And the diameter of the hole where the bellhousing bolts to the trans to know if i need to machined my collins plate again !

Hey Marc, I am looking to do this kit as well. Could you please advise what flywheel, rear rotor housing, and starter motor you are using? The Collins site specifies a few, but I am hoping to use an FD flywheel, 20B auto starter and manual 13B rear rotor housing.
I asked Brett Collins (I assume who is the owner of Collins Adaptors?) about your predicament and he was adamant that there is an incorrect part being used somewhere. He has told me that they have completed and driven on these kits in the past.
Keen to try and get to the bottom of this with you so we can enjoy these awesome gearboxes!

A very old post about the Collins kit mentioned you need FC 13B Auto bellhousing, not FD auto. This was a very old post and was also on the Collins website wayyy back when this product came out. Now it says Cosmo for some reason.

As above the 20b Cosmo bell housing Is 2inchs longer but the Cosmo 13RE I think is the bell they are saying to use. Whether or not the REW is the same I don't know.

And remember that the starter ring gear is different as well, depending on what starter you use, you must use matching piece.
