Help please 20b bellhousing

I have the collins adaptor cd009 to 13b but my 20b bellhousing il to long.it is possible that there is 2 king off bellhousing in the 20b serie ? very sorry for my bad english

Darryl C 03-21-18 01:07 AM

No, 20b bell housings are all the same 200mm long. The only 13b bell housing I have measured to compare is the FD RX7 which was 158mm long.

Do you have the centerbore for the bellhousing ,tranny side ? Thanks

will measure diameter tonight. Do you have to keep 20b bell housing? Are you wanting the forward facing starter.

marc-andre auber 03-21-18 04:37 PM

We have to keep the forward facing starter . The 20b bellhousing that we were instruct to use by collins is to thick ... there for the imput shaft doesnt reach the pillot bushing and the spline on it wont reach the clutch .

Its missing abit more then 1inch

Im looking to know whats the inner diameter on the 13b rew automatic bellhousing to comfirm it will work with the conversion plate (the way its machined , there is a step in the center that centers the bellhousing on top of all the bolts)

oh, sorry I only have the 20b auto B/H. The FD 13b I measured was a manual B/H. Does the 13b Cosmo have a forward facing starter on its auto B/H?
I was familiar with your issue as I had been looking at Tremec conversions and I also wanted to stay with the forward facing starter on my 20b Cosmo and realized the extra 40mm length was going to be an issue.

marc-andre auber 03-22-18 05:21 AM

I am sure the 13brew automatic have the forward facing starter .for the 13bre automatic i have see some pic off it .in this pic it is a forward facing location

Darryl C 03-24-18 07:40 PM

After asking on a Cosmo site the housings are both forward facing with the 13b B/H being about 40mm shorter. I did not get a spigot diameter but it looks like the 13b BH is the one your after.

You tink this is a 13brew auto bellhousing ?

Darryl C 03-25-18 06:40 PM

I'm not sure from the photo. The bell housing I have been commenting on is from a JC Cosmo which is a 13b RE, I cannot say for certain the REW are the same.

I have a 20 B and it's automatic type side starter mounting arrangement. What do you need exactly?
Marc

that would be great !!! if you have them off the transmissions , could you mesure the height of the bellhousing next to each other see if there is a difference . And the diameter of the hole where the bellhousing bolts to the trans to know if i need to machined my collins plate again !

Hey Marc, I am looking to do this kit as well. Could you please advise what flywheel, rear rotor housing, and starter motor you are using? The Collins site specifies a few, but I am hoping to use an FD flywheel, 20B auto starter and manual 13B rear rotor housing.

I asked Brett Collins (I assume who is the owner of Collins Adaptors?) about your predicament and he was adamant that there is an incorrect part being used somewhere. He has told me that they have completed and driven on these kits in the past.

Keen to try and get to the bottom of this with you so we can enjoy these awesome gearboxes!

marc-andre auber 05-03-18 06:24 PM

I use the collins billet flywell , 13brew auto bell housing , 13brew auto starter , tilton ajustable release hydro bearing ,

Sash91 05-08-18 12:46 PM

A very old post about the Collins kit mentioned you need FC 13B Auto bellhousing, not FD auto. This was a very old post and was also on the Collins website wayyy back when this product came out. Now it says Cosmo for some reason.

marc-andre auber 05-08-18 01:02 PM

Fc auto bell dont fit , cosmo bell dont fit it is 2 inch to long . You need 13b rew auto or i dont know what gen of 20b bellhousing he talk . Sorry my english was very bad . If you want more info . My english frend gonna take the lead lollll

As above the 20b Cosmo bell housing Is 2inchs longer but the Cosmo 13RE I think is the bell they are saying to use. Whether or not the REW is the same I don't know.

And remember that the starter ring gear is different as well, depending on what starter you use, you must use matching piece.

TwinCharged RX7 05-09-18 11:54 PM

Just call them?

marc-andre auber 05-10-18 04:01 AM

The kit is perfect you just need the good bellhousing

HI Marc, have you driven with the CD009 yet. How well do the ratios suit the rotary. Also which model Z car did your CD009 come from.
Cheers
