Each Turbo gets 1+1/2 shot. as in your 2nd exhample w/ dedicated WG's each.

The gears them selves are strong enogh for 500 Hp.
What really needs attention is the case itself. (flex) due to bearing fatigue.
When bearings get old, the cage that contains the ***** FAIL, This allows for improper gear mesh, and causes the teeth to bind, which inturn causes the case to flex. and You know the rest.
As for the Supra, it's excelent, well its a Getrag, the only trouble is the PPF. and the fabrication assosiated. The synchros are delicate, but then they ALL are in any box.
