Filler location for radiator?

I bought this car with the coolant fill in the spot it's at. I would like to buy a 1 piece silicone hose for this and put in a radiator with a filler cap on it. Is there any reason this is like this? Or does the radiator have to be elevated because of the fill location? Just curious what other people have done for the fc's? Pictures would be allright if you have any. Thanks.
