Autronic SM2 20B wiring

Hey there!

I posted this in the ECU forum but didn't get a response, maybe its more appropriate here!

I've just bought an Autronic SM2 for my 20B->FD conversion, and am looking for some hints on how to set it up. Its a v1.92 chip so i'll be firing the L + T plugs together.

Should the ecu be in 2 or 4 stroke mode and how many cylinders should i specify? How do I wire the ignitors and injectors? what should the crank trigger disc look like?

any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks,

Rob.

6 cylinder 4 stroke piston. buy 6 coils! dual post coils firing l&t together is not that great

I guess you could buy six coils and fire L and T together, if there is no other option with your EMS. Just don't fire L and T from three DIS coils (like FC or FD leading coils for example).

Jeff:
unfortunately the autronic only has 4 ignition outputs so I don't think I have a choice but to run zero split. Could you expand on why this is such a problem?

thanks for your help

Someone such as Evil Aviator would be able to explain the pros and cons of zero split better than I could.

As for the four ignition outputs, it may be possible to connect two ignitors to each ignition output such as I do with DLIDFIS. Or maybe I'm not understanding how the Autronic works. Maybe the Autronic has the equivilant of four ignitors in it... I just don't know enough about it to give informed advice.

thanks,

Rob.

It's a direct fire ignition upgrade for '85 and older rotaries. http://www.geocities.com/cd23c/dlidfis.html Both leading plugs spark at the same time. Each 'leading' coil has its own ignitor. Each ignitor gets its trigger signal from the leading pickup in the distributor. In other words, the single pickup signal is shared between both ignitors. I was wondering if you could do something similar with your setup. Since each coil would have its own ignitor, there would be less problems firing both L and T at the same time on the same rotor housing.

i've wired a few of these units as well as many electromotive units, but none on rotory engines so i may be incorrect on some details. it needs to be in two stroke mode 3 cylinder. a 3 rotor would most likely be wired similar to a 6 cylinder, maybe in phased, but i'm really not completely sure. the wiring of the ignitors will be based on which ignition box you are using. the crank trigger should have 3 teeth.

if you want no timing split between leading and trailing, its just a waste spark 6 cylinder
