exhaust sleeves

so with a non-ported motor and the stock twins, is it worth swapping to the FD exhaust sleeves? eventually ill have it ported... but not yet. i just want to get in in and running first (which will be an insane task in itself). how difficult is it to swap sleeves? -heath

is the motor apart? Its worth switching over to FD rotor housings altogether. A must in a solid rebuild.

Yeah, the rotor housings me be separated from the engine...
The roll pins must be removed from the sides, and this is next to impossible to do with the engine still together.

How often does anyone pull apart a 20b engine and withness worn housings? The housings are the same as the Fd other than the sleeves. There's no need to waste money on Fd housings if you are able to remove the 20b sleeves and replace them with sleeves from damaged housings from a turbo Fc or Fd. Lets think outside the box a little bit here.

what I mean is, I don't like reusing rotor housings anyway. For a stock project, it *might* be ok. But I was shooting for 500+ rhwp so I wasnt about to use the old housings. I just swapped them out for FD rotor housings. The downside is, you have to have some of the holes milled out for the thick tension bolts.

no the motors not appart. its got good compression on my engine stand so untill i get power hungry its going to be stock. ive been sitting on this project for so long already (3 yrs for the engine and 2 for the chassis) that i just want to get it working first. later i can fiddle with a single turbo, having it ported, etc... but for me, ill just be happy if i can get it mated to the tranny and bolted to the subframe me thinks i bit off more than i can chew lol. -heath
