Depending on what type of dyno your on, you'll run .5 leaner when your actually under load. So if your tuning to 11.5, you'll be running 12.0 on the street.

I see little difference, My o2 feedback corrections are usually +- 2-4%

nah .5 is a lot! on a dynojet, you might see around .2 difference in A/f assuming you are tuning it in 4th. I guess it's possible to see .5 difference if the car was tuned in 3rd since you're nowhere near the proper load on a dynojet. but I don't know of any good tuners tuning cars in 3rd (both street or dyno).

Iron,
Is the pressure reference line for your wastegate/boost controller coming from a pre-intercooler or pre-intake manifold source?

Having tried different WG springs and using an electronic boost controller, it seems odd you'd be seeing a consistent pressure drop.
Best,
John

15psi spring pressure = 25psi falls to 21-22psi
20psi spring pressure = 25psi falls to 23psi
20psi spring + shims = 27psi falls to 23psi

Any other sugestions to check, I am open to them.

Right now it is get is pressure pre intercooler. I am going to bum another boost gaguge and see how much the pressure drop is pre / post intercooler vs. manifold pressure. Just to check
where restrictions are at.

Remember this is an 80mm crammed into t04 housings. I'm sure it is just at its limits.

I think you may have found the issue. Give the boost controller a reference line post throttle body and let us know how you make out!

The boost controller map sensor reads manifold pressure. There is more pressure pre-intercooler. Right before I just changed it the lower port was connected to the manifold, and upper port pre intercooler via solnoid. made no difference. Current setup also connects ref line to the comon port, N/O port to the lower wasegate port, N/C port to the upper wastegate port. Basicly the more duty cycle there is more pressure put on the upper port and removing pressure applied to the lower port.

lol....Around here there are quite a few shops, but all have dynojets. All runs are in 4th gear and everycar runs .5 leaner. Not my first rodeo either

The E-Shaft is made by Jeff Bruce from Precision Engineering in NZ. At the time of purchace the exchange rate was awesome compaired to now. I was able to get the shaft for $1450 shipped from NZ.

Fustrating night. Drove to the shop again with hit and miss rain. Got the car on the dyno. Was having communication problems between dyno and computer. Replaced the cable. Then the plugs were fouled out and left the spares at home. Rained on the way home. Not fun with drag radials. Try again next week.

I had some time today and messed arround with 2 boost gauges. I have a about 1.5 to 2 psi pressure drop from pre-intercooler to post throttle body. Totally acceptable I think.

Next I want to measure turbo back pressure.
I also made a quick block off plate for the wastegate and going to try it maybe tomorrow if I have time and weather pending.

You can see a big change in the MPH wit the larger drag radials.
Power was way down about 170hp , plugs were fouled out and it was a 20* warmer out.
We were fustrated with all the issues that night. Will try again next week.
If things time out I'll be at Sevenstock. I am scheduled to leave back to CA withing the next 2 weeks. I am taking the car with me this time, towing it of course.

You can also see there was wheel slip shown on the lower graph. each time is slipped the turque shows a dip.

We used a different pickup for the rpms. It now logs the full run unlike last week.

Tried the blockoff plate. No change in boost will all exhaust going through the turbo.
I really need to measure the exhaust backpressure.

I would like to maximize what I have, or just learn to be happy where it is at.
A new turbo is out of the question this year.

I was thinking about backing off the duty cycle on the boost controller and setting it back to the 15psi spring. Maybe allowing the wastegate to bleed some backpressure would help.
Worth a try I guess. I picked up a 5' brake line and fitting. This weekend if I don't go up north, I'll weld a bung on use the brake line then goto the boost gauge line. I think 5' should be long enough to disapate the heat. I'll buy a 5 bar map sensor later to be able to log it.

Great job!

Couple of questions.. what ECU are you using (Sorry if you stated before.. I guess I missed it)?

I saw the video and you did a great job tuning! Sounds great!
Can't wait to see this in person at 7Stock!

I am using AEM.

As for Sevenstock. My project was just delayed to Nov now, so I decided to use some frequent flyer miles and booked the trip to go anyway.
We will see you there. Maybe next year.

LOL - Middletown Rancheria?
I looked at financing that casino deal back in 2007. Cool location there off the twisty roads near wine country...
