dry sump oil system how much height can you lose?

With a dry sump system how much height can you lose? I want to run a supercharged 20b, with the supercharger mounted on the top. I fear with the oil pan, block and supercharger it will be to tall, and the best way to shorten it is with a dry sump... so I guess it would be ez'er to ask how much height dose the oil pan add?

Then I need to know how long and wide a fully assembled 20b is. I am wanting to put it in a car that was made for LS motors, and they seem to be tight in there. But I should not have to worry about that as much, because there rumor that someone was trying to put a 26b in one. So I guess length should not matter if that's true. So to sum this question up haha if any of you know, how much longer or shorter and how much wider or narrower a 20b is compared to a LS1, LS6 or LS7.

Thanks for the help guys.

you can drop the engine about 2 1/2 down with a flat belly pan maybe more ....the only trouble is that you will need to push the engine back behind rack to clear the front of the engine(front cover),especially if you run the dry sump the unit will be farther forward because of gear drive and hoses..

I push my engines as far back as possible on my FC and FD Race cars and low.I only have 1 inch from front engine to rack.Your other concern will be if you push the engine back you will have some issues with the intake hitting the firewall.Since your supercharging then your charger will be larger and may need to do some cutting,On my Race cars i cannot cut the firewall,i just bang it in with a hammer to clear some parts of the stock 3 rotor upper intake.

You wouldn't happen to be RX-GTM on the FFR forum would you?

Thanks that just what I needed to know. I don't have to worry about pushing the engine back because this is not going in to a 7, the car it is going in to has the room. But vary nice looking engine bays love them.

I can't tell you how tall a regular 20b pan is, but i know you can get away with just a 3/4" aluminum plate for your drysump system. Your concern really should be whether you can get it far enough back to clear everything.

He was/is interested in putting this into a FFR GTM, not an FD.

You can also get away with an .065 aluminum sheet or even thinner if you want, particularly if you use metal. That will give you another 3/4" to drop the engine. All the pan has to do is seal the oil into the engine.

I've used a 3/4" plate on my dry sump setup but it has engine mounts designed into it.
