clutch and flywheel question
I just want to double check.
For an S4 TII, I need an aftermarket flywheel for a s4 TII and that will bolt up to the 20b counterweight. Then I can use a clutch for a TII as well (upgraded obviously).
Thanks,
Will

Yeah. A general rule to follow is use a disc and pressure plate that matches your TRANNY. Get an aftermarket flywheel that's made to bolt to a rear counterweight, that also matches your TRANNY!

thanks man. I just wanted to make sure before I forked out the money for the wrong thing.
Is your avatar an ignitor? nevermind I see you made your own ignition system, pretty cool.

Yep, the auto counterweight on the 20B has the same dimensions where the flex plate bolts up, so any aftermarket flywheel designed to bolt to the CW will work. Aluminum or light steel?
I decided to go with light steel since the 20B has so much instant torque, even at near idle, that you don't need aluminum for quick revs. It had a nice zing that a 12A doesn't have, so it frees up the aluminum flywheel for something else. Plus the daily driveability should be slightly better than aluminum, although the actual difference isn't as large as RB and Mazdatrix makes it out to be. The disc and pressure plate make a bigger difference for actual clutch feel.
