i know they are totally different turbos but i was wondering if they are close in size..


chaotic, why would a v mount give me quicker spools?

Similar in size, yeah, but not that close. The GT47 will definitely spool quicker. It has a 92.7mm turbine vs the S480 96mm.

because you have around 6 feet less piping from your turbo to your engine.
people get turbo lag and charge time confused. really the turbo has hit full spool about twice as soon as you feel it. It takes all that time to pressurize the system. If you remove 6 feet of piping, then all of a sudden you have a much lower charge time. This is also why you dont want to get an intercooler that is overly-big, or with unnecessarily large end tanks.

Kinda funny how with my FMIC as soon as my boost gauge reads that it is making boost ( which is connected directly to the compressor housing) I can feel it. No doubt a v mount will reduce lag but its not the way you make it sound.
