black top 20B intake mainfold?

Hey ive seen a few 20B intake manifolds that were actually black. It looked stock, and I read somwhere that it only came on the SII jc cosmo.

However I saw a 95 jc cosmo on the drmh website and it didnt have the black intake manifold.... so whats the deal?

The only thing i've heard about the black top one's is that they have more hp and torque.

WRONG.................

The ones with the black painted tops of the rotor housings (not the intake manifold) are warranty engines. Many of them where done as the early engines where failure prone.

I have seen what might be called black top engines. The intake mani is kinda like anodized a black/grey color. it looks pretty sweet. I also heard it was some kind of second edition motors..like S4/S5 for 13B. I thought dragon had one?

Well, that was the word on the street for many years in the US. However, DMRH has seen quite a few Cosmos, none of which had factory black intakes, and I will defer to his assessment on this subject.

I think the rumor of the black manifold 20B was started because of one picture on Craig's Rotary Page.

My personal Cosmo is a "series-II" so trust me, they dont have & never have had black intake manifold.

Thanks for reminding me there "Evil aviator". That pic in question on Craigs rotary page is done with lighting & camera effect. If you look closely, you will see its really normal aluminium colour.

It looks like several colors are not quite right in this picture from Craig's rotary page.
