backwards build ,fd from 20b back to 13b

This might be a first, and at first glance might make people question my sanity, but after I explain I hope it all makes sense.

Last month I came across a beautiful 1993 Mazda rx7 3 rotor turbo with only 28,000 original kms. I have known of this car since 1997 and its history as a show car and time attack machine. I even remember seeing the car at the Vancouver Motorsports show that year.

It was maintained by PDM racing who helped in a NA 3 rotor conversion for the local Vancouver owner. The next owner bought it around 1999 and decided to convert the car to turbo with a gt42r . Both owners hardly drove the car. The newfound power was too much for the stock transmission and after 5 years of ownership and maybe 1000 kms he decided to sell to me, after a lot of negotiating. At first I thought I would install the interior and have a fun street car. But two trips down the road was enough to change my mind and consider another option. The 20b turbo is really too much power for the street. And these are not the most comfortable cars and I just passed the big40.
It would also have been nice to know the engine was damaged and blowing out an insane amount of smoke once warm, not to mention a lot of water in the pan. I felt like James Bond with a smoke machine, you could not see the road for a mile!!! I started adding up the cost to rebuild the 20b, convert the tranny, beef up the drivetrain, add power steering, interior, etc etc and thought it was just too much work for a car that wasn't very practical.
Another big reason, probable the main reason was I have a 20b turbo racecar and am always looking for spare engines. I had a wreck laying around with a fresh 13b motor so I decided to install this engine and interior and have a nice drivable street car .

Here are some of the specs before the conversion back to 13b.

Wow,

Are you breaking transmissions? Is it 3rd gear that blows? Input shaft? Maybe you can just turn the boost down a bit?

Have you consider just selling the manifold, turbo, fuel system etc and converting to N/A?

This the RX7 dream can't wrap my head around pulling that baby out!

If you do so, I wish good luck to your sale and good luck getting it where you want it to be; certainly curious to see what happens

otherwise goodluck with the car, that looks real clean and a nice chassis to build on for sure!
