A "cheap" conversion from a 20B-REW would yield around 220-240bhp. Back in the day, Roger Mandeville was getting 450-475bhp on his IMSA GTO 3-rotor. I have heard rumors that some NA 20B's are getting up to 550bhp on SCCA GT1 cars, but I have not been able to verify this.

True, true, but since the 20B forum doesn't get much traffic as it is, I don't mind.

Lounge sucks.

Hey now, don't slam the nubie. I much prefer the more obtuse "what is the hp of engine X?" as opposed to annoying "I have A, B, C and D installed, so what is my hp?".

That's more like a streetported 13B NA.
A bridgeported 13B NA will make anywhere from 200-270 rwhp.

NA 20B would probably be in the range of 200-400 rwhp depending on type of poritng (stock -> peripheral) and the state of tune.

Trying to get this thread back onto a technical track:

I presume you could just use the 2nd gen higher compression rotors and throw them into a 20B and run it NA.

Hitman in Auz has a 13b triple which I like the sound of. It has a custom centre plate to hold a stationary gear and as a result I guess it's slightly shorter which will be better for dropping it into a 3rd gen. It also has a custom eccentric shaft.

Anyone considered a 10a triple? Nice and small with a custome eccentric shaft.

Adler.

wouldn't 10A parts be hard to get a hold of?!?!?
A 12A would be better I'd think.

Er, good point. Loads of dead 1st gens kicking around.

Although a 10a triple would be nice and short and you might be able to get 250bhp from it if you tune it well. NA power to match the stock FD. Nice.

I can't see 800 hp out of an NA 3rotor.
The most I've ever seen on an NA 2rotor is about 360 rwhp.
I know of 4rotor engines (based on 13B parts) making around 850 rwhp NA.

(850 + 360) / 2 = 605 rwhp for a 20B
That's an EXTREMELY rough estimation, but it shouldn't be too far off the rear number for a peripheral ported 20B NA running higher compression rotors and tuned for lots of power instead of good powerband.
Just to show how it makes me doubt the 800 hp NA 20B. Then again... it was in japanese and it might have mentioned something else

Variable Intake on the R26B and things like 3 plugs per rotor, dry sump etc give them higher output - around 750bhp.

20B PP 2 plugs oil pan and 55mm throttle bodies would make around 450-500bhp on a good day.

The RE Amemiya GT300 race car has a peripheral port 3 rotor NA that makes around 350 horsepower I believe..

It makes 300, its in the GT300 class. But thats with restrictions too. Unless it makes more.....

I know the cars in the GT500 class keep HP under 500 which is max for that class, so im guessing its the same for the GT300.

I thought the 3 rotor engines in the racing cars were 13G engines, not 20B?

the triple plugs were mainly for fuel economy and torque, but good **** none the less, variable intake was great. helped with power and torque.
i wonder what a r26b couldve made had it been tuned for max power. it was tuned for fuel economy and powerband.
