20B Throttle body cleaning

Okay, Might seem like a crazy question but I have heard that with some throttle bodies you are not supposed to clean the inside off excessively as there is a sealing paste or something that has been applied to help them seal shut.
Can anyone confirm if I am okay to thoroughly clean my throttle body while I have it off?

Thank you
Lee

Provided you don't acid wash or bead blast the throttle body you will be fine.

using a kero bath or the likes will do the trick.

Just take note of any seals (rubber) that are on it if any as kero will likely damage them and you may want to re impregnate any brass bushings with some more oil.

The throttle body has got quite a number of different springs, seals, solenoids, dampeners, etc. I would take it out and hand-clean the outside lightly rather than dip in a bath.

Thanks for the info there guy's. Thought it was best to check.. I was just planning on using some brake cleaner to give it a blast and wire wool around the outside to shine it up a bit..
