20b - Stock Porting and Single Turbo Numbers?

I've run across the dyno's on stock twins... 350+ hp 400+ ft/lbs... stock ports, fmic, ecu.. etc...

I was curious how the 20b would perform with a large single turbo and say 10-15psi. It's going to obviously depend on the size of the turbo....however, do any of you run a 20b on stock ports and a single setup?

If so, what kind of numbers are you getting?

Curious if buying a 20b and slapping it in is worth the gain or if it should be bought, rebuilt, ported, etc.... I guess it's all opinion really... but if the engine has good compression i don't see why a stock ported engine would not perform well on a single turbo...

Thanks

These are all the stock port 20b's on Wargasm's dyno site. You should be able to figure out how well they can do from here. Keep in mind the highest boost level there is only 12 psi (smaller 60-1 turbo), and a few of them are still sporting the stock twins.
Notice that even the single turbo's aren't that big, the only one with a big turbo (42R) was only running 8psi and still hit about 430rwhp). If he bumped it up to 15, that would be some really decent power.

I hope this helps a little bit.

Not a bad amount of power for 10psi.... on a T64

That is very helpful... would like to see some higher boost levels though. Perhaps 15psi...

Thanks Again

I've seen 600+ on a S400 @ 17psi. It really depends on what supporting mods you do and the like.

I just dynoed my street ported 20b with a 1.15 gt42r . I achieved 590 hp @ 14psi, and 664 rwhp @18 psi. Then I sheared the input shaft right off the tranny.

Yeah the transmission went out on this car. I have heard about the GTO transmission working in place of the FD. I am not certain though.

LOL - seems torque takes it's toll on the tranny really easily.

Has anyone attempted a hardening treatment? I've read about the few alternatives people are looking into.. V161 Tranny, etc... just wondering if there is a decent way to keep the stock tranny in place.

The 20b exhaust sleeves are what suck with a single setup. You can swap them out without dismantling the engine to increase flow.

Or just use 13b housings? Obviously that would require dismantling
