20b rotor housings

wasnt sure if i should post here or not, but i have 3 20b rotor housings in great condition for sale. For what im trying to do, Im going to use 13b rew housings because of the exhaust ports. $575.00 plus shipping for all 3. I also will sell individually.

20b's are usually low mileage when bought used. The housings usually are in great shape. Save yourself some money. During my rebuild, I removed the sleeves myself from my S5 NA vert and had a shop cut the diffusers out for only $30.00 for both. Or you could just buy some junk turbo II housings from ebay and swap the sleeves. Going this route maybe will cost you $100.00.

Do you still have the 20B housings? If so, what would you want for one?

Well look on the bright side, you did get quite a few miles out of that stock rebuild from Peter Farell. You blow the center rotor? Those stock 2mm 3 piece apex seals he installed are never going go hold up forever under heavy boosting since the top piece of the apex seals get shorter and more brittle with age and mileage. Then it's just a matter of time before a tiny bit of detonation breaks them. I strongly feel had he rebuilt with a stronger more durable 2 piece design(which I don't think was available back then unless you milled for the 2 piece 3mm GSL-SE seals), you wouldn't being be looking for rebuild parts right now.

Oh yea did I mention that I "HATE" 3 piece apex seals. They aren't worth **** in higher mileage applications. Anyways who is going to do your rebuild?

Almost 80,000 miles. Objectively, that's not bad. Subjectively, it's half what I'd hoped for. (I know, I know--a raving lunatic.)

I don't know which rotor died. I took the car to Ray at PFS. He sat down, turned the key, listed for about 4 seconds and said, "Yep. It's blown." Having worked on a few rotaries, he knew the tell-tale sound--or, more accurately, lack of sound--that comes from no compression. I suppose I could insist on a compression test, but I have never had any reason to question Ray's judgement on anything.

Who makes the two-piece seals?

No, you hadn't mentioned your 3-piece issues.

I haven't made a firm decision on the re-build, yet. I'm leaning toward taking it to Kevin Landers at Rotary Resurrection. His fee for a stock re-build is about half of PFS's fee, AND for a little more, he'll upgrade the housings, so the car will be ready for a big single turbo, if a sudden madness grips me. <big evil grin>

Mazda, Real World Solutions (known as RA) PTS, Hurley, ect have 2 piece apex seals which I believe are more durable than the older 3 piece design (especially in a higher mileage application)

This isn't just my own experience. This a problem with all 13b's sold from 87-02. 3 piece seals aren't very durable in higher mileage situations. They break very easily the more worn they get.

Well Kevin will do you a great job from all the praise I hear from around the forum. He uses Atkins 2 piece apex seals. You will save a buck with him.

Kevin's webpage says that he uses Atkins two-piece seals. OTOH, his page doesn't specifically mention 20B rebuilds like it does for 13Bs and 12As. I'll mention that issue when we are setting up an appointment.
