20b rebuild tool
started the rebuild of my b series 20b today, to bad it
was run hard
It should work out ok once its done.
anyone who says that these motors are coming over
with only 30,000 km is full of s%$#, judging by the
wear on the oil control rings I would guess its closer
to 70,000 or 80,000 km.
back to my question...
Does anyone have the tool or have a picture of the
mazda tool for pulling the e shaft apart?
thanks

you have two 20b's? wheres the closest insane asylum?
i have heard you can use a dent puller, to pull it apart.
i was told my motor had like 38,000 or 39,000kms on it, but ive never seen an airfilter that was that dirty, its gotta be more like 60k MILES.

I think i want to pull against the back 2/3rds
to get the front 1/3rd off, using a dent puller would have
the thing sliding all over the place before it would come
apart
lol
well there is a good reason for the 2nd one, i have
learned that the early motors were not all that strong
and fail on a regular basis, so in later engines mazda
added extra strength to the pin areas making the motor
stand up to more boost and just last longer.
the early one that i have i think i am going to make it
into a a/n 20b for who knows what

I don't have a blacktop 20B, but when Marvelspeed pulled mine apart, Don (who has been doing this for 20+ years) said that this motor had been taken care of VERY well... He said it looked like a 30,000 mile motor, and he'd know... no nasty coolant passages, no need to lap housings, all parts were reusable... maybe I got lucky...
I know Judge Ito has the tool (actually, I think Pepe Loco bought it) and he MIGHT let you borrow it... for a deposit or something, I have no clue... PM him and see what he says
Where did you get your blacktop 20B? I'm going to be looking for one shortly....

the side housings look great very little wear on them
the rotor housings are not bad either just that rear
had a apex seal go and take out the housing and
rotor, other than that it isn't bad. don't really need to
lap the housings but I think I will just to make them
100% flat and ready for new oil control rings.
I might have pictures of the puller I am making tonight
if it works

well tried the puller I made, it was not really finished
but I wanted to see inside that middle housing so bad
I couldn't wait to get the puller done
worked great! put it on impacted the big bolt a bit
then gave it a tap and off it came
