OR 20b rebuild

I've got a few 20b's laying around that need rebuilding.

I've got one torn down to the intermediate housing, center plates and the eshaft.

How does one get these apart?

There is nothing on the eshaft that screams "take apart here" and I haven't figured out what to do next to get the housing and center plates off the eshaft.

My sawzall battery is low, so I decided to give up for the night and ask you for help.

Please help a rookie with more ***** than brains figure out how to disassemble my first try at a 20b tear-down.

.... maybe you should go to your junkyard and pick up and old 12a for $100 and figure it out first before you destroy a few rare engines....

Don't people have a lot of trouble getting the removable part of the e-shaft off? I think you need some type of special tool.

I wouldn't try it without that tool or unless someone tells me im wrong.

Thank you for your most helpful advice.

I've only been an enthusiast for about 35 years and I've only opened about 10 12a's and maybe 20 13b's. I guess I could open up some more 12a's or 13b's but for some reason I have this little voice in the back of my mind that says "you won't find a two piece e-shaft in a 12a or a 13b". Funny how that works.

And yes I have done searches. I do remember reading about the "ease" of getting the 20b e-shaft apart, but I have not found that (searched) thread yet.

First option sounded the best to me...Charge up that Sawzall battery already...you might need some better/heavyduty blades to cut through that e-shaft.. I heard they where hardened...Home Depot???

I can't find the hardened blades at Home Depot; I guess I'll just have to find the e-shaft puller tool instead.

didnt know they had a certain piece that needed to come off.... im still dumbfounded....

the only 20B e-shafts i've seen were one-piece builds, no special tool needed for removal/installation

I took the link to utube. Thanks to now.

It's been downloading for nine hours (slow connection) and has dl'd 53mb.

Will the torture ever end?

Will some one please post a picture of the e-shaft puller tool?
