20b question (be nice .___.)
20b question (be nice .___.)
please don't flame at me for asking this
i'm just doing my research for future planning for the 20b
thx. (i looked around forums & still didn't get "complete" answer)
-history-
i'm getting a FD soon,
and i'm definitely planning a future 20b for it when my 13b dies on me
(want to make the most out of it b4 i switch it out)
so my question is,
is there any mods that i can do to the car that contributes to the 20b
while having the 13b?
ex. changing the exaust system (downpipe, y-pipe, ect.)
while having the 13b
and keeping it
when changing to the 20b
(and the parts still working 100%,
as if i changed those parts just for the 20b)
-does that make sense? (its hard to word)-
its just a question,
if can plan like this
i can save a ton of money
and make sure i buy the best part in the beginning
thx again -sorry if i posted this in the wrong section-

You cannot use the same fuel system because the rails are going to be different.
You can use a aftermarket flywheel, and a engine management as long as it is able to control a 20b. You cant buy a PFC for a 13b and expect it to work on a 20b so be careful on what EMS you decide to choose.
Also you can keep the midpipe and the catback as long as you fab up a DP that works with the existing exhaust.
Im sure there is alot more but I just dont feel like thinking about it.

i guess there really isnt much that can be done
that benefits/applies to both 13b & 20b.
haha,
well i guess in the long run,
i'll probably have to invest on the 13b first then :p
(get more technical knowledge)
then see how things go from there
whether to get a 20b or not in the future
thx guys :]

build the rearend and axles go twin fuel pump and decide what you want to do with your 20b.
do you want to go n/a, factory twins, mid size single, large single? its hard to say what you should buy without knowing what your plans for the car are.

im most likely going to go for NA
turbo is tempting
(if i were to do turbo it would be the stock twins)
but still NA :p
[technically doing 20b NA opens a lot more doors to do changes on the 13b that benefits the 20b no? :]
and that's about all
there is a lot more to the fuel system than just fuel rails.
your gunna need a fuel pressure regulator, quality fuel filter, an upgraded fuel pump ( not just a 255 either), hundreds or dollars of fuel lines and fittings. Not to mention injectors which you will just need 2 more of depending on your setup.
So yeah you cannot use the same fuel system if you neglect the 90% of it that is usable.
