20B prices
20B prices
I was thinking about starting to save to buy a 20B in the future and I know that I should search but I'm to lazy and a surch doesn't bring up all the good stuff that experiance has brought. So does anyone know what a good price on a 20B front clip is and were I can get one for that price. Thanks in advance.
If you would have bothered to look only 9 posts down, you would have seen this post.

Hehehe, if you put that much effort into your 20B project, I seriously doubt you would ever even get the engine out of the front clip.

Ok I just read that post, and I have read it before I was wondering if that is the normal price for a 20B and if anyone sells them for cheaper or is that as good as it is going to get.
Thanks
Thanks
Cory, at the end of the day you get what you pay for. I received a post from a guy who said he had all the money needed but wondered if he should bother rebuilding the engine. To me that is like changing only 5 of the 6 spark plugs or only installing 3 tires as you think the 4th one is ok.......
Well that makes since, so I'll just take it like it is what you are willing to spend, and how bad you want it. Also if I get the money to do this and go threw with it does the engine fit in with out having to move the radiator or any other thing of that nature or will it sit back on the factory motor mounts.

You do realize that the going rate for a 20B conversion is about $35,000, right?

Thanks for the link. I don't think that it will cost near that much if I do all the work my self. I saw that you are putting a 20B in your 88 REX how much has it cost you so far. If it has cost 35,000 dollars man I don't have near that kind of money, and if it has cost thatmuch are you doing all the work your self or paying someone to do it.

The price of the conversion depends a lot on how you go about the conversion. Since no two custom cars are alike, it's rather difficult to nail down an accurate cost. Also, the price is inversely proportional to your automotive skills and available equipment. My big concern for you right now is that you seem to think that you can save a lot of money by doing things yourself, but at this point you haven't displayed a lot of skills that would lend to saving any money on this project. There are a WHOLE lot of things that I don't understand or have the capability to perform on my own, so this is where additional costs come in to have the "smart" guys with all the cool tools and equipment do the work.
On the good side, the 20B conversion gets cheaper every year with the advances in the EMS industry and availibility of a few ready-made custom 20B parts like engine mounts and exhaust flanges that were not available when I started my project.
man, I want a 20B....Unfortunatly, I think I am going to be WANTING one for some time, as I KNOW it will be a lot of time and money involved (worth every penny, if that's what you want). I will be taking on a swap to a 13b twin turbo in my FB before I can think too much about the 20b project. I think I like the idea of the FD20b at the moment, hell with the RX-8!....maybe
I just really wanted to say that all of you actually working with the 20b, I have the utmost respect for what you are doing and believe that to be increadible that you've taken on all that work. Congrats and good luck!!!

Well man I better get a very good paying job before I ever take this project on. As for mechanical skill and a place to do the project we could handle that with some amount of easyness. We have a 4 bay garage that I controll 1 bay of, but it is occupided by a 1937 John Deere, that my step dad, brother, and I are trying to restore. That project should be easy (with 100 gallons of PB blaster that is).

BTW, my uncle restored a John Deere because my aunt likes them. It just sits in their backyard, and my uncle cranks it up every week or so. It's pretty cool.
