20B oil pressure too high?
I have rebuilt my 20B, installed in my drift FC and i used FD oil pressure regulator.
My oil pressure on cold startup with fresh oil (Valvoline 20W50 VR1) is 9 bar and car is smoking a bit.
Warmed up, idle oil pressure is around 3 bar and 3-4000 rpm around 5-6 bar, no smoking.
I have done first 130km of break-in yesterday, not tuned for boost, not boosting and not much above 4000 rpm....
Turbo is ballbearing with 0.9mm restrictor.
Is 9 bar too much and does it hurt something? (132psi)

Pressure will always be high when cold however, I don't think the Fd regulator should be moving the pressure that high all by itself. You are running thicker 20W50. Thicker oil will raise the pressure. It really wont hurt anything. The drag guys run pressure like that (HOT) all the time with PP's. That much pressure on a HOT engine is said to cause you to loose a few hp and smoke more.
As for me, since I'm not running an OMP, I'm going to be running 0W40 Mobil when I get everything sorted with my set-up. This should allow for easier and higher rpms during cold start-up and great protection when warmed up. The 13b starter really isn't designed to turn over the 20b's larger displacement so the thinner oil will help out.
