20B NA Or Supercharged 450-500whp???

Hey guys I'm setting up the plans for my 20b swap and was wondering if you can help me out with more info. Now I actually don't mind turbo but hate how it takes away from the sound of a 20b. I'm aiming for 450whp minimum and this car must be streetable. I see that Atkins sells a roots style supercharger for the 20b but I'm not sure if it can fit in a FD with the stock hood as it looks like it goes ontop of the engine? Another alternative I have would be NA but I'm guessing that wouldn't be streetable? What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

Thank you

Wouldn't bother looking at roots type chargers. take a look at something along the lines of a whipple/ twin screw.

450rwhp is doable in NA form but not easy or cheap by any stretch of the imagination. It's gonna take some serious rpms to get to those levels and with high rpms, comes tons of money to do it on a 20b. Your gonna need dry sump, rotor clearencing and lightening, carbon or ceramic apex seals, and a custom intake system built because NO ONE has one the shelf. Logan "GtoRx7 here on the forum" has the NA record here on the forum and put down 475rwhp with a semi pp. You need to make him your best friend.

so you won't do a simple small single turbo setup just because of an impact on the sound of the engine? the sound still sounds amazing with a turbo, you will be spending thousands to do it different, just to get a sound. I would rethink it.

For 450 whp, a single turbo is the most efficient, effective, and economic method.

^ya. Open wastegate and bridgeport if you really want to wow everyone with tripple rotor sensory overload,.. without cutting holes in your bonnet or chucking billions of BTU of energy out the window that is..

trust me I'd be wiling to pay extra just for the sound. A NA 20b sounds like a beast race car coming down the road. A turbo kills the high rpm sounds imo. I've went over many youtube videos and it honestly just sounds a tad better then a 13B with a turbo.... My goal is to aim for around 500 flywheel hp. So lets say around 430whp NA. How expensive is this?

thanks
