20b ignition choices.

How much boost can you run on ls1 coils? Can you direct fire them or do they need an amplifier? If not, where do they get their power- are they more than 2 wire? I'm running 6 x6-a boxes on hvc 2 coils. I was wondering If I could fire the hvac coils with a Haltech 6 channel ignitor in direct fire mode. That would save some weight for sure. I know the ls1 coils don't have near the pop of my set up but I don't plan on boosting more than 22psi on this set up.

Don't waste your time with ls1 coils. Get AEM smart coils, they have built-in ignitors.

I was under the impression that some of the newer ls1/ls2/ls6 coils have built in ignitors.

They do, doesn't change the fact the aem smart coils are a much stronger ignition coil.

I went aem smart coils for my 20b. Now the question is are non resistor plugs too much? I usually run egv plugs with stock ignition coils.

I've always used resistor plugs to avoid electrical noise so no idea.

What plugs are you using with your 20b? Your car sounds great...

I bought an IGBT X6 box for my build as a package, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to throw it away after reading about the smart coils... Also, never heard of resistor plugs until now..

I was going to use regular mazda rotary plugs, but... What do YOU got??

OEM Mazda plugs are resistor plugs. I use NGK R7420 which are also resistor plugs.
