20B FC anybody?

So I was talking to a friend of mine who's been into this sorta thing for a while and knows his **** better than anyone I've ever met. He was working on a 20B and I was asking what a hassle it would be to put it in a RX7. He was telling me that its a pain to get a 20B in a FB and a FD but the FC has room for it without any huge modifications. Just custom mounts with no relocating of any sorts. He also said he can get a front clip (cosmo 20B) for really cheap. So I was pondering (and which of us doesn't get excited at the thought of a 20B) if its true that a 20B will fit right into a FC? Also what turbo would be sufficient for 450hp? And will a TII drivetrain hold up to this much power?

Yes your friend is right, but i would not discribe it as " fit right in " and a healthy TII drivetrain will hold up to that much power. This topic has been covered many times you should do a little searching on it. And expect to spend lots of $$$ oh and im not sure about the turbo qusetion.

Fit right in as in no transmission or radiator relocation thats all. Plus I only had a couple questions and don't feel like reading entire threads looking for indirect answers.

Yes, the 20B swap is easier in an FC, but most people would still call it a huge modification. It's not as difficult as converting to a rear-engine configuration or adding gull wing doors, but it's still a lot of work.

The stock turbos.

Yes, but you will need an upgraded clutch pack. Extreme application of torque, such as drag racing with slicks, would require an upgraded drive train.

For reference on the above, the RXX-7 dynoed 373bhp @ 12psi with stock porting. The TII drivetrain / ACT clutch has lasted for 50K miles on the conversion so far, with driving consisting mostly of highway and autocross use.

The stock turbos get me 427 hp. Rebuilding with 13B-rew housings will get more at higher rpm. So far, the T-II drivetrain does just fine, however, I don't do dragracing.

Suggestion: read through the 20B forum.

Well thanks. Somewhat. I don't need to know how to do it. Just want to get some opinions before I even consider it. Thanks.

So you would pay $10,000 to $35,000 for a drop-in kit?
