20B Engine Mounting

Hi there,

Trying to sort out an engine mount for my 20b motor into a bmw chassis.

At the moment there is a sway bar, power steering rack and standard cross member preventing me from using and retaining the rear stock mounts on the rear iron and rotor housing.

With this in mind, is there any issue with mounting the motor from the front by using a different front cover? If so, what issues are they and can they be over come in any way? I am worried that the motor might stress a little more causing cracks in the irons...

If no issue is there any preference to what front cover I can use? I've noticed there is one for a 13b and 12a, both using front mounting set up and am I able to just drill and tab the cover for an oil return line from the turbo?

Cheers...

A GSL-se front cover can be installed on a 20B, however if that is the only mount you are going to use, the front cover will break in a high HP application.

Here is a N/A 3 rotor aircraft engine we built recently with the GSL-se cover for mounting

You may be able to modify our 20B FC brackets which move the motor mounting to the rear intermediate iron. http://banzai-racing.com/store/13B-R..._brackets.html

Thanks for the reply. I guess its a start. Does anything on the front cover have to be changed to bolt to the nf01 front iron?

Nothing needs to be modified on the iron or front cover, the 20b CAS can also be used.

Oil pan needs to be modified or custom to fit properly.

I considered the idea of using additional mounting locations in the past. My thought is adding additional mounts may help to keep the motor more rigid as it would be supported in more than just the rear of the motor. This might take some of the stress off of the dowels and tension bolts and help to reduce the chance of the motor flexing.
