I was kinda thinking the same thing, but you would be surprised at how many dumb-asses I run into every day where I work (at a lexus dealer).

I see nobody mentions superchargers. Had things been a little different I would have proceeded with that vs. a turbo due to what Dragon had mentioned, much easier header design, substantially less heat in the engine bay, but immediate power response.

The question that also needs to be asked is; what are you planning on doing with the car? Street, strip, auto-X, road race, etc. Many variables to consider when planning, unless you have enough money to just do the swap because it sounds "cool".

Parasitic lose...
Most of a pain to intercooler...

The design of the rotary engine begs to be turbo'd.
All the exhaust energy is wasted otherwise - bolt on a turbo, and get back some of that lose exhaust energy!

At 600hp+, do you really need more response?

You can get longblocks for $3500, a rebuild (if done by yourself) would run another $1600-$1800.

Funny but he asked for a FULL RACE motor, with machining, etc.. I don't think a standard home rebuild qualifies for this, so $1.6-$1.8 figure is not exactly a reasonable figure for a FULL RACE motor, if this is truly what is being asked.

this me means the following:

Motor:
-Full Rebuild
-Porting
-Apex Seals (ceramics, or =)
-Pinning
-Balancing
-Lite Rotors
-etc

This would be a lot more than the $2K for a self rebuild, unless you had all the equipment of course. Sorry if this is not was meant, but it's how I read it.

Yes I DO!

If I could afford the stupidity of it I'd do a centrifical supercharger with the turbo providing the 15-30 psi boost after she was in full song. With a couple relief valves and just a tad more plumbing I could have an engine bay full of IC piping... but then again why bother with a properly sized turbo capturing the heat/exhaust flow and boosting by 2K anyhow
