20B build Okinawa Japan

Hi guys been here for a long time, moved to Japan and opened a rotary/tuning shop. Over the years my 1999 RS FD has gone through some revisions that I`ll post below. The final form before starting this 20B was a EFR 9174 pushing 30 PSI on a fully built 13B setup. I had a friend discover 2 containers of FD/FC parts here and in there was a 20B. Since he had no interest I took the 20B and now were gonna begin the build.

How I bought the car 4 years ago.
Revision 1

Revision 1 with an IWG 9174
Revision 2

Final revision with EWG 9274
Revision 3

SO far
we have the REC subframe
Full rebuild with new bearings
EFR 9280 1.45 (This was an intentional choice for my end state)
Xcessive short LIM
New UIM from Mazda
Street port on the irons
9x ID1050
LMS-EFI custom R type harness with bulkhead
Adaptronic PNP series 8 EMOD 0012 with large expansion module and Wideband module
Built2Apex Oil pan and EWP adapter from my buddy Nader
and a bunch of other crap. I`ll be posting the updates here and on the facebook page Wandering Gaijin Tuning

Thanks everyone

Seth

Its on order now. The 1.45 is a made to order housing for it from BW. If everything goes as planned I should have the car running and ready for tuning around January. I have several single turbo customer cars to finish first.

Not a lot of updates. Last night I took the dremel and ultrasonic cleaner and cleaned 20 years of rust and buildup out of the cooling jackets. I`ll post some pics up soon. Then its porting time. I still need to inspect the Nitrading on the irons. There is a lot of water staining from the motor sitting. If the nitrading is bad I`ll make the decision to either box everything up and push it to Chip back in the states or just bite the bullet and start replacing the irons with Billet.

OK finally figured out how to direct link from google pictures to the thread. So I`m reposting the pics.

Chassis the 20B is headed into.

Cleaning the irons from 20 years of sitting (start)

Rust pile

Irons Post (before heading into the ultrasonic cleaner)

And a new set of rotor housings picked up from Auctions today

So now we are just waiting on some parts to come in. I have to drop a motor in a customers car today and then I will start sanding my engine bay and relocating all the wiring harnesses etc.

Not a lot done today. We rebuilt a customers 13B and then I took some time to put a small port on the 20B.

No it will be open. WIth a 3 to 1 manifold there is no purpose to splitting. It would be near impossible to split the pulses.

I used a fine grinding stone to remove the large flake sections, then a dremel wire wheel. I finished with my Ultrasonic cleaner and some cocktail of cleaning solution I made.

I owe everyone some updates and will post up soon. It has been rather uneventful so far. I have the chassis stripped and waiting for the PDM. I also stripped, sanded and stitch welded the engine bay. I need to go get some more Argon this week. Next up some panels to close off the wheel well holes into the then engine bay and then more sanding. I HOPE to have the bay painted in the next two weeks and the REC subframe at least in place. I have a bunch of customer projects to finish as well in the interim.
