20B in a 350Z

High guys how much would you think it would cost to put a 3rotor engine in a new Z?

Close to the same as it would be to put it any most other cars than the one it was meant for, plus the added cost of custom motor mounts and stuff like that, that you can buy for FCs now.

I guess it would be cool. I mean what do the 350s have stock, 350hp? Isn't that what a 20B puts out stock? I know the turbos plus rotary make it cool, but the 350's have brand new engines. Is this some realistic or just a dream?

swap it into an fc or fd...

You have GOT to be shitting me? Did you even think before posting this??

Youre telling me youre gonna buy a $30-35k car, rip out the new engine, and install a used, 5-10 year old engine, with less hp then the one you pullled out had stock, and one known to be less reliable as a performance engine?

The better question to ask would be how to fit a 350Z engine into an FC...

Yea and while you are at it why don't you buy a 2002 Mustang and swap out the motor for the 350 from a '89 Camaro. That would be cool !!!!!!!

Can we get this thread moved ?

it isnt a 3.5 liter V6 its smaller. i think it has the same motor that the Maxima or the altima has.... cant remember which one. but i know a guy who works at the nissan dealership and the motor is the same as one of their other cars.

i cant understand why anyone would take a brand new car and do that. but to each their own.... it isnt a stupid idea, just an impractical one. i want a 2002 FD with an all Aluminum 20B swap off the showroom floor....

if i said that i bet no one would say i am stupid..... same concept different car...

They all have 287hp @ the flywheel. Different models come w/ GPS, better brakes/suspension setup, better rims/tires.

Probably close to the same as putting one in an RX-7, which is about $10,000 for a very basic do-it-yourself job (welding, cutting, milling, etc.) and about $35,000 for a custom automotive shop to do the conversion. It's hardly worth the trouble IMO, especially since a stock 20B-REW is only rated at 280 ps (276 hp).

you would be one of the few to say so. why does everyone have to be a jackass on this forum and go around calling people stupid because they thought.... "damn that would be cool" sure it is impractical as hell but it doesnt make him an idiot....

i wonder if everyone told wankel he was an idiot for his motor without pistons... wonder if everyone told the Wright brothers they were stupid for their airplane...

the truth is great things come from those who are willing to do something impractical or "idiotic" as you would say. so sit in your little Niche and enjoy the view while the world evolves around you

Kevin,

i was wrong.... i said i think it isnt because one of my friends told me that.... how the HELL is that being a know-it-all????

why is everyone so damn touchy nowadays..... he is an idiot.... he is a know-it-all.... he doesnt know anything about cars why doesnt everybody stop insulting people for nothing

Justin

y did someone say the 350z is faster than the 3-rotor please make that post go away. 350z's aren't all that fast from what i've heard in the kills section. It can take pretty much any n/a but what happens when it races someone with a turbo? Something better than putting a 20B in would be to put a custom turbo Kit on it. create some real hp.
