20B In a 10AE?

I ran into some clown with a third gen at a car meet tonight who went on to tell me that i could put a 20B direct bolt-in into my 10AE. Different Mounts and radiator of course. Now i was and have been under the impression that my car is no different under the hood/subframe than any other TII and would require all the same parts to swap. subframe, suspension, ecu, etc... Not that im even considering this as a serious option for my car because i dont want to hack up the front of a 10AE. I think this guy was smoking something or an obvious newb. But never the less im interested to know...

So what differs in the 10AE vs. a TII? And what other mechanical fabrication has to be done?

when my motor was dropped in the mount drivers side had to be extended to allign up the engine in the bay u will also have to trim inside of the hood, remove power steering and relocate sway bar.

Not quite and getting the motor in is the easy/cheap part, its the thousands you spend after that, that begin to add up.

It does "bolt-in" but bcool is not lying. . .that is definitely the easiest part of the whole ordeal in an fc.

you are the obvious newb

C'mon guys - it really is "just" that easy. That's why they are so readily available and people all over the country have them...

As i said earlier... im not actually looking to do this with my car because i was under the impression that it required a large amount of work and money. This guy wanted me to believe it was cheap and very easy which is not the case. But he insisted that because it was a 10ae it was very easy.

It is "easier" from the standpoint (FC vs. FD) that it fits in the engine bay with room to spare, a different engine cradle is not needed. Beyond that, no, it is not something simple or easy to do by any means.

If this guy is so willing to give advice, let's see if he provides installation for next to nothing/fabrication, etc, and can do it all prior to you removing your existing engine. Needless to say, the guy has no clue at all...

Absolutely nothing as far as a 20B conversion is concerned, just as you thought.

Exactly. Kinda funny how these guys who say the conversion is so easy have usually never even seen a real 20B engine.
