Someone bought it out from under my friend at the last minute while he was negotiating the price without the ecu. Someone is a lucky bastard; anyone form here?

Japan parts is a good source. They had a cosmo front clip in a few months ago that was in great shape. At least the clip was. We checked the compression with an actual Mazda Rotary Engine Compression checker with the printout (man I love those things). Anyways, the rear rotor was flatlined . He wasn't willing to negotiate with the price either, even after seeing the test results himself. Great souce for all kinds of parts for dirt cheap too.

After having seen mounts from both places, the K2RD mounts are much better quality, but also way more expensive.
Thank you for that! It's about time I got some straight answers. While I'm on the subject, I called Japan parts up and told them what I was planning (as I'm sure that they've heard it millions of times already) and I was told that the stock driveshaft will work with the swap. Is this true or should I make plans for a custom shaft (I'm a cheapskate so if I don't have to then I won't)

The stock driveshaft will work out of your car as long as you use the same tranny.

I say just leave it as close to stock as possible for now, just get it into the car and running properly with the EMS. That's by far the biggest challenge.

Upgrading parts can be done fairly easily without too much hassle or money spent after you have a good platform to start with.
Sometimes, starting off with too much in mind (single turbo, custom this and that, etc) can lead to a far bigger cost than expected, and troubles ran into that were unforseen, making you abondon the project.

It all kind of depends on yoru budget though. If you are paying someone to do the work, and have the extra for the upgrades off the bat, go for it.
