Alright I have found a 83 GSL for sale close and am looking to go check it out soon. Is there anything not covered in the long drawn out obviousness of FAQ? The motor has 173000 miles and I don't want to buy a POS. Is there anything I should look for that is damaged that is hard to find, and wierd noises that might hint to some long drawn out catastrophic failure? You guys have probobly answered this before but nothing came up in a search.

Thanks for your help.

Always check for rust in the usual places, like behind the storage bins.

Run a carfax and take a mechanic to look at it if you can't inspect it yourself. Via carfax you can also arrange a physical inspection if you don't have a friend that knows cars.

If that's stock motor it's not gonna last much longer it will need a rebuild. I got 180 out of my 82 gsl and it started the smokage.

edit: Just remembered there is someone that can check the vin history for you in the non tech. Look for a sticky.

if the car has been properly mantained and not driven like a stock car it should have plenty of life in the engine. mines at 168,xxx and runs perfect, no smoke.
