No. Well, technically it is possible, but you will have to run on dark matter.

Actually, if you're good enough you can run on hopes and dreams.

SEARCH!!! And, you're in the wrong section, indeep1. This is for 1st Gens, not 3rd Gens.

I think the 93 was a typo, in the subject line he said 83, and also mentioned upgrading the carburetor.

D'oh! How could I have missed that? I must've been busy upgrading my engine with TWO hamsters on a wheel instead of one.

Yes,you can turbo the engine.....you can turbo any engine with enough effort.

The reason your getting more jokes than answers is because this question is asked twenty times a week,in a similar fashion. What I mean,is that it sounds like your unaware of the complexities of forced induction and the many systems that need to be altered in order to make the entire setup work reliably. Its relatively easy to slap a turbo on a more modern EFI engine and have it work.Carburetion is not the ideal way to go for turbocharging, but it can be done if you adress the right problems, and so far it doesnt sound like your ready to tackle such a job.
Search, learn and plan.Your gonna have to fabricate and/or piece together most of it since there are very few ready to go turbo kits for the 1st gen anymore.Specific technical questions asked during the planning/working stages of the swap are more likely to get you some serious answers.

Turbo + Carb = Messy bad running car.

Go get an EFI system, turbo mani and turbo rotors if u want it to last over a month over 9lbs of boost.

There are dozens of guys on here with great turbo carb setups that have been working fine for years. Original poster you can check my thread as i am doing a turbo build this winter on my 12a. There are also great write ups on here from moremazda and several other people. Here is the one from moremazda.

don't get me wrong it can work no doubt. but the more efficient way and easier way is to go injection. and over all you should be able to make more power.

I didn't want to do this but......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNG6JRoqXu8 You can turbo anything. It comes down to tuning and part selection that makes it reliable. If you throw cheap parts on it, don't know how to tune it, then it will not last. My blowthrough runs awsome on 10psi all day long.

well how many high performance carberated turbo cars do you see. id rather do injection with a motech ecu and program it so that i know the thing is gonna run to its full potential.

Then you haven't being paying attention. I don't have any, electronics to fail, or blame. If you can't tune a carb, then a laptop is the way you should go. I have run and built both. Untill you can say that, then do not dismiss what a blowthrough can and cannot do.
