When rebuilding a Rx7...restore it to itz original state! Enjoy the sweet virgin look of the seven then upgrade under the hood. Please do not rice it out! example: Stickers all over, different color interior panels, ugly rims, some outragious paint job.

Welcome to the seven community,
Vern

Well you do not have to worry about em riceing it out becasue iam in to muscle cars aswell but i would like to get a nice paint job rather then the white it has now. it has been sitting in a garage for 10 years so its in good condition but first i have to fix the driver side door and was wondering what years of doors would fit on a 82

thx for the comment

get a haynes work shop manual, by rebuilding it do you mean the engine or do you me the whole car? Check out Racingbeat.com for a excellent source for all your parts they are awesome... If your gonna paint it a different color do it properly or dont do it at all... Take the engine out, get the engine bay sprayed, door jams, the works... Since your car has a 12a you have some options, you could swap it for a 13b, go turbo or modify it as a N/A

And since Iam a teen and have not yet left high school i was wondering about the sound system i would like to get 2 10" subs in it but the only thing I can figure worth doing ir ripping out that whole spot were the container cubies are and making it into sub boxes as all one with the hatch floor cause i came acroos a guy that put a sub in behind the container cuby so no one can see it and think about steeling it but i hear the quility of the sub and sound is really poor ....what should i do?

well your in luck, ive been in the save boat, Ill upload some pictures of my stereo (similar idea to your but its 2 - 12's). Its very removable but is too heavy for anyone to steal and if they do steal it, Its all insured anyways... The trick with subs in a cars is point them to the back of the vehicle, trust me there about 5x louder this way becaues the sound waves are longer...

ya i have looked at your pics before but i dont really want some one breaking my hatch widow so if i took out teh conatianer area and build a bof bigger so the subs face the back i could through a blanket over them and hopefully no one tries to break in and racks me

on ebay about last year there was a black rx7 alittle riced out imo...but his system was nice what he did was raise the floor in teh hatch all the way up to the hatch glass but under that fake floor that was raised he put 2 12's amp everything and if you wanted to look at it etc it had a handle you pulled up on to open up the raised floor....

this is rx7carl's setup i found a pic on my computer of it

Welcome

Hey Just wanted to welcome you to the RX7 community. It is great to see a young guys like yourself getting into a car like this. Just a few things...remeber these cars a cool enough without ricing them out. When you are old enough to drive people will be commenting on how cool your car is. Second...subs are good just remember that when you have a hatchback it is best to place the facing the rear hatch. You will get the best sound out of the subs that way. 2-12's should be more than enough.

Good luck on your restoration.

Once you hear the sound of that rotary through a performance exhaust, you won't want to hear the music. The sound is just so awsome. Besides V8's and some I6's, the rotary has got to have the best sound ever IMO. There is just nothing that compares to it. I'm heavy into car stereos, and before the engine went in my car, I found myself turning off my system just to hear the sweet sounds of the engine.

I came Across your car domain and liked what i had seen. Its the one with the one sub in the centre of the hatch right.....I like what i had see from your car. I have already heard the engine there pretty impresive for a import i never new rotary engines could have a nice sound to them aswell as what they put out for being so small

Its covered seperatly... The insurance comapny didnt seem to have a problem with it... It costs 50 dollars a year, and hopefully will recieve reimburstment if i ever need it. I like your idea of putting the subs where the bins used to be but im not conviced the way they are facing will provide the best sound... We tested this before in a supra, turned the subs around and it was a night and day difference in sound. At first when I was looking to get a stereo installed I thought 2 massive 12's pointing at the back of my/passenger heads would be insane. My stereo installer told me different though, I let them install it and was very impressed, puts out a nice amount of sound.

door for ya

If you need a door I can help you out I have an 1980 ls thats well beyond restoration. I'm pulling the mechanicals to make a locost and have no need for the shell.

If you are close to me in Philadelphia, PA you can come by and pick up for 10 bucks. Or if youy aren't close I can pack up and ship if you pay the costs. If you pick up I'll leave the glass in, buit I won't ship with the glass. The interior panel is crap but the exterior is decent.

if u wanna keep the spare in there, you can go with 2 10's the same way I did...

PM me if you want to buy the boxes from me ($150 including shipping), I'll be making a new set this summer and these will need to go.
