You think these wheels will fit my SE?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
  • I think the 12mm x 1.5 mm thread size for this wheel is the right size for all 1st Gens.
  • The 40 mm offset should be perfect.
  • Bolt pattern of 4x114.3 is right on.
  • And I understand that ADR is a pretty good wheel.

Any thoughts?

I tried those rims on my SE a while back at a friends shop.
I had to use a spacer on the front to help clear the strut assy.
BTW.....
they looked really good on my Black over Silver SE

Spacer? Really... I wouldn't have expected that.... Were they the stock struts?

Here we go again. Most of your first gen offsets need to be between 0 and +15. More offset means the center of the wheel is more to the outer edge of the rim. Most front wheel drive cars use between a +35 to +40 offset. If you use +35 to +40 on a first gen, you WILL have to use a spacer to keep the wheels from either rubbing the suspension, or the inside fender well. These are 17x7 Konig, with a +40 offset.

These are the spacers I am running on mine to keep the wheels position properly. I aslo had these setup for 4x100 bolt pattern. This will give you wider range of wheels to use.

Not necessarily. If the SE is 4x114.3 the standard offset is +38 so +40's will generally be fine regardless of wheel diamater (7" wide). my mate has exactly the same rims as mine on his S3 (same as SE mostly) 17"x7" +40 4x114.3 with no spacers or guard mods

Yep, I thought 40mm offset would be enough to avoid the need for spacers on an SE.

NO...
My SE is painted in a two-tone color scheme...
Black on top and Silver on the bottom half.

Also.....
The rims did not rub on the strut BUT were so close that I felt a small 1/4 inch spacer would be needed to give me piece of mind.

I didn't run spacer's either... mine was a 16x7 with 40mm offset. However with a coil-over set up you can't slam the car without spacers because the tire will hit the adjuster.

if you have the car stock height no problem!! and spacers on ebay are cheap...

5mm spacer is like 30 bucks for 4.
