You guys are gonna die! 12a into SE!!!
So tomorrow I am going to look at two cars a guy is trying to get rid of.
According to him:
He had a mint 79 that recently had a "new” motor installed, and then promptly wrecked by his daughter.
So he buys another car with a good chassis and paint to put the “new” motor in but cannot get the carb to work in the FI car!
So this guy basically tried to put a 12a into a GSL-SE and failed. I am going to go look at this mess tomorrow and see if I can get a good running car out of it. Hope fully the parts are all there to resurrect the GSL-SE.
With all the people (including me) trying to get 13b power into their 12a I thought you all would like to hear about this

Ask about the fuel punp. It could be that easy. If he kept the SE punp then he is pumping too much gas into the carb. something like 60 psi when it should be 5 psi. If that is it you could get a great deal on a car that needs a diffrent fuel pump. Good luck.

I dunno yet. He advertised both of the cars for parts in the local thifty nickel. I asked him if he was interested in getting rid of the whol shebang and he said yes.
I will let yall know more tommorrow after I suvey the damage.
I am hoping the GSL-SE can be returned to FI 13b status and snag the "new" motor for Mojo, as well as the usable parts off the 79.
I was wondering what I should offer him for them. I guess it will all depend on the condition of the motors. Everthing else I probably have three of.
if I get two more cars that will add up to a total of 7 sevens.......I really think I need therapy or something.

Theres nothing wrong with collecting them. As long as they work, you are keeping them out of the hands of people who know nothing about them and abuse them to the point they need to be in a junkyard...

YEAH, what WackyRotary said, yeah
I have seen quite a few 1st gens in the local boneyard that look like they must have blown a motor or tranny or something and got junked. No really bad visible damage but none the less at the junkyard living the rest of its existance as parts for me.... its sad really

You could probably buy the whole car for cheaper than it would be if you went back and got all the parts seperately.

Well I saw the cars today.
One is a 79 yellow in color that has minor sheet metal damage to drivers side fender and door. Nice black interior. Stripped engine compartment, no tranny.
Clean Brown 84 GSL-SE with brown leather interior. Drivers seat shot to hell, the rest of the interior good. The SE sports a newly rodded out radiator and new cheapo tires. 2000 mile (so he says) 12a from 79 bolted into it. Says he has the 79 tranny in the SE but the shifter looks as thought it is in the stock location. Carb inside cars along with everything else not attached. Engine and tranny from SE in a wheelbarrow under an overhang.
It looks as if everything is there for 2 complete cars. I am going to offer him a cool grand for the whole mess if the 12a motor tests for good compression. I figure a good 12a AND a clean GSL-SE body are worth that.
When I get these that will make 7 sevens, I should start a salvage yard or 1st gen shop or something.

Andrew
P.S. I have some money now, so I am probably gonna buy a rebuild kit, but still would like you to come over and clarify that that is indeed what it needs. I have goten so many opinions on what it is, but before I spend my money, I want to be for sure At least it is good enough that you could test drive it (but probably not far, due to the stalling ) LATERZ,
Andrew
