Yet Another Fuel Pressure Question
Okay, so far I've been checking pressure with the engine off and pump running. I have a Carter 7psi pump and Holley 1-4 regulator. I checked the pressure after the car fell flat on its face today after I installed them so I figured it had to be fine tuned. The pressure out of the regulator before the carb was kicking out just above 6psi with the regulator set for lowest pressure!
To me this says bad regulator but since it is brand new, I thought I would ask...should I be checking the pressure with the engine running and adjusting the pressure while idling instead?
Yes, the adjustment screw was turned counter-clockwise just about all the way out (one or two threads in, just enough to hold it there). I also tried it turned in which should increase pressure but since I'm already at about top pressure there wasn't much change in the meter.

Just to warn you, I'm not an expert or nothing, but:
Yeah, fuel pressure should be checked with the car running. Also, unless you have a 0-5psi gauge, chances are your readings could be quite a bit off.
