WTF no power again starting to **** me off

Well Im trying to get my car back into running shape again(85 base) and now its being a little bitch. I have 0 power to anything again, the last time it was a corroded wire going to the fuse block under the hood, now Ive got nothinng going to anywhere. The battery is good had it checked and replaced, tried an optima my friend runs in his truck so its not the battery. Ive cleaned the termanals to wear you can see you reflection in them and have cleaned all the main ground.....so yeeah what the **** is up. I did put fuses in place of the fusable links and I thought the problem was there....changed them and nothing.

Like I said just getting a little frustrated over electrical issues....it wasnt like this when II put it in storage. So yeah lil POed

Well swapping the fusable links to fuses is very bad idea. if u swap anythign u must rewire in another fuse box u cant just slide in fuses. u might have fried something.
My best geuss is check the fusable link box to ensure none of the wires are broken... hmm. maybe the fuse box in the car...

have u got out the good ol voltage tester yet? thats always a good place to start.

soryy i cant be of more help.

my car has frequent electrical problems also. so i know what ur goin through.

I got the Fuse Idea from on here and everyone said it was awsome. and it worked for a lil bit and it was awsome. So i dont really think its that but maybe. Ill buy some new fuseable links then and try that.

Why is replacing the fusable links with fuses a bad idea? I've heard of several people doing it, there was even a writeup on it here not too long ago.

Its a bit of a misconception about the fusible links, the replacements are really not fuses, but modernized fusible links. There's no harm in changing them.

As for power, have you checked your ground cables? Maybe run some new grounds, or follow the ground cables and make sure they are still making good contact.

yeah like I said I checked all the grounds and such...still nothing. here is my way of cleaning the grounds if I am wrong let me know.

Take off ground and clean the contact surface on the wire its self, then clean the the contadt surface on the frame and or body...tighten down with new bolts nuts and washers....did i miss something like a special dance or something.

Hmm... Pull out the main fusible link, and check that power is reaching that terminal with a multimeter. If it is reaching, try putting in the older style fusible link for now just to make a good contact, some people have had contact issues with certain types of the box-style fusible links. After you check that, see if you are getting power to the fuse box inside the car.

I checked the power at the main fuseable link(the centerone right) and wasnt getting any power. I am thinking of putting on new wires on the pos and neg side and see if that helps.

Sorry bud, but i have to call bullshit on that one.... All of my fusible links have been replaced with inline fuses (not fusible links) with no issue.

Yeah, had a feeling you wouldn't. Replace the wiring I guess, probably the best way. You could try cleaning the terminals in the fusible link holder if you can get something in there.

Well its dark now and snowing so I am not gonna fool with it anymore tonight. Ill go get some new wires tomorrow and see if that helps. Its like everything Ive tried to do with this car is involving electrical. Even my rollback was being a bitch when I went to ge it out of storage. The main harness was fried outta nowhere. So yeah the reason for the frustration is obvious.

Try not to look at it as chasing down problems and fixing them, but as an opportunity to upgrade or improve what you have. Mazda used dirt cheap wiring and crappy connections when they built these cars. I have already completely rewired my headlight system due to this, and replaced everything with much heavier gauge wiring and better (soldered) connections. It was a bitch to get it done, but I knew that it would perform better than stock, be more reliable, and it would be the last time I would ever have to mess with it. I figure that if I have to spend the time to work on it, then I might as well spend a little bit more to make it much better. Good luck...

Well I have thought about rewireing the whole car because I know about the shittyness of the wiring....but I am not to good with electrical and i would like to have someone around that knew what they were doing to surpervise. If I do decide to do it. Ill make a thread with alot and I mean alot of pics on my progress.
