hi
My car starts when its cold, but after it warms up
it doesnt want to start.
what position should the butterfly be in when its Hot
mine is straight up and down.
should it be closed?

i don't touch the gas pedal when starting the hot motor. just turn the key, once it fires up give it a tad of gas.

i assume you're talking about the carb's primary butterflies and not that dumb shutter valve in the intake manifold.

It is because your engine probably has low compression, ATF treatment might help..


Check your compression..

the big butterfly at the top of the carb.
i guess the choke opens and closes it.
when i shut off hot that butterfly is straight up and down.
i had madza check the compression its ok.
but i could afford there prices to work out the carb problem

 

*shrieks* my car wont start hot either but i pray its not low compression.. take your rats nest out, thats my next step if rebuilding carb doesnt help
