WTB: Weber 48 IDA

I'm gonna be ordering that twin weber setup for the 13B from TWM, and Ialready kinda have one Weber 48IDA.... need the other one.

If anyone has one laying around , or is just looking to get some dollars.... let me know.

I'm pretty sure the twin carb setup uses sidedraft Weber's... not IDA's. Or have they started making one for IDA's as well?

Twin 48's would be overkill wouldn't it? I was under the impression that a single 48 would outflow a stock port engine.

Who said anything about stock?

Besides, the chokes in a Weber are replaceable and can be pretty much made to any size you wish. The twin carb setup would allow you to use a much smaller choke which in theory should give better performance accross the rpm range than a single carb with big chokes.

the twm dual carb manifold is for dual sidedrafts. like weber dcoe and dellorto dhla

weber ida is a 2bbl downdraft. won't work with that twm manifold, sorry.

i have personally seen a dual 2bbl downdraft manifold for dual weber ida or idf/dual dellorto drla. it was for sale in the display case at european motorworks in hawthorne, ca 1.800.722.8678. I *believe* it was for dual 45mm downdrafts but the flange and runners had enough meat on them to enlarge it to dual 48 downdrafts.

that much carb is typically used on a purpose built drag race only motor. read *bridgeport*. no street stuff.

Dual 40mm sidedrafts with 32mm chokes are pleanty of carburation for street stuff.

Ya, and i think hes attempting the 4 rotor thing. So ya, TWM might be building something custom. 2 IDA's would be perfect, one barrell per rotor.

Actually, I was mistaken.

I was thinking that the IDA's could handle sidedraft capabilities. I am wrong on this, apparently.

However, this setup is currently going to be for Project: Bubba II (zyounker's 79 Widebody)... until I decide to go turbo.

And about Chefasaurus Rex, I'm thinking probably a 4bbl Holley 1000cfm or larger....

Carbs dont usualy like being places in strange positions. Like holleys dont work well mounted upside down. Something to do with things called float bowls.

I know this is a stupid newbie question but what does the number mean when you are talking about carbies, I gues it would be diamiter? If so what units is it in?

thanks jutny,
I thought it would have to be with numbers like that but I had doubts because most people on this site seem to be from the U.S, so I thought it might not be metric.
