Wrench for steering box
I've searched, but can't find a supplier for the wrench that can loosen the large circular ring. It's the one where the steering shaft enters the box.
I've tried the prybar an hammer method, but it is starting to deform the ring.
I'm trying to work through the steering adjustment process. The screw adjustment is maxed out and still have sloppy steering, so hopefully doing all the adjustments will work. It's an all stock 85 GS. Thanks

The 85 rx7 is same as series 3 in Aus the screw adjustment works the opposite to the early ones u need to undo lock nut and turn it counter clockwise to get rid of free play

That's the guide I am using. It's the worm gear locking ring I'm stuck on. It seems frozen on after 30 years, don't want to use heat on it.

When I was trying to go through my steering gear I used a wee bit of heat on the brass ring and a large pair of channel lock pliers. I didn't have to worry too much about the heat melting the bushing/gasket on the steering shaft because it was missing on mine, and of course, brass doiesn't need much heat to expand.
I tried to fashion a wrench with 1/8" thick plate kinda like the one in the FSM, but it didn't really work out for me; however, if I was even a semi-decent fabricator I could have made one that would have worked. That might be an option for you.

Thanks, I may just wait till I move to VA this summer where all my tools are in storage, just frustrating with all the slop and driving on the interstate every day.
