Thumbs up Wow, she is considerably faster now!

I put the 7 on a huge diet plan last night. The front bumper beam came out, then I wanted to get all the freakin sound deadening material out from the firewall area behind the dash, so the dash came out. Then the HVAC system was looking really really huge and ugly, so that came out, then I liked the look of everything without the dash inside, its so roomy! Anyways I removed well over 100lbs of stuff from the front of the car, and then I took her out for a spin, and WOW! She feels a LOT faster. I'll have to head to the dragstrip again one of these days, cuz it definately feels like it has low 15s in it, based on how it felt the other day when it ran 15.852 Pretty good for a car with the only mods being weight reduction and a cheap exhaust.

Oh yea, braking and handling feels MUCH better now with all that stuff out. And the manual steering feels like power steering cuz the front end has gotten so light that it steers rediculously easy.

i would love to do that to my car but my interior is in such good condition for an '84gsl that i just can't do that. That's why i had to pay more for it. But i would love to get the cheapest rx and just go totally crazy on stipping it down.

start cutting all the metal out and replacing the windows if you are at it. This is no joke, it would make such a difference it's not even funny. I've heard of a guy that did that in a 2nd gen, he had a street port with escape and a 75 shot, ran 11s.

AdrenalifeRX7, did you ever find out what your specific body kit is?

No, but there was a post on this forum a while back about some company that was producing knock-offs of the same kit. I have looked and searched everywhere and I have come up with nothing. A lot of the molding and placing of the fiberglass pieces on my car were no doubt custom from the looks of it. If you ever come across any info let me know. My 7 looks extremely similar to this one (only a bit lower to the ground) which I found in a RX7 picture archive. The bodyshop guy I bought the car off of called the bodystyle "California Porsche Slant-nose 911 speedster".

I ask because I ran into a black '81 twin of your car. The owner recently bought it off some guy who drove it from California.

Looked nice, the flares are very subtle, I like it better than the Mariah kit.

I agree with your taste in widebodies. It must have looked sweet in black though, right? I was planning on having mine painted black this coming winter.

The black was nice. Too hard to maintain though.

I love that widebody AdrenalifeRX7, thats i think the best looking body kit I've ever seen for the 1st gen. Lookin great!

As for the windows, I'm waiting for my income tax return to come in before I can buy some plexiglass cuz I'm broke, lol. And I think a header is gonna come first so i can dump the air pump too. I had the door panel off a few days ago and cut out some of the useless metal, but left some for the window to roll up and down. I couldnt get at that heavy beam. Once I get the plexiglass I will hack out the whole inside of the door, and remove the window up/down mechanism. Then I will swiss cheese that door beam. (not completely remove it... i want to retain a little bit of crash safety at least! lol

I think the drivers side window will remain intact, I need to roll it up and down, solid mounting it would suck.

I may also make myself a plexiglass rear hatch, but it might look ghey being a completely flat piece with none of the stock curvature to it. I will make flush mount headlights consisting of $5 bulbs, pleixglass, sheet aluminum and duct tape in the upcoming weeks, that should chop down another 15lbs or so

There was a white FB posted just today in this section that had a similar front spoiler as Adrenalife's, if I'm not mistaken it has the subtle body like on the sides (preserving the appearance of the chisel nose) and the dam angles forward as it comes down...

I just got a sheetmetal dash made up, looks pretty good. Much cleaner than with no dash! I'm thinking I should use the metal as a mold for fiberglassing.

I can no longer post pics on the forum... It doesn't like me anymore!

Or else I would! Well the cars almost done... so soon, so soon! I'll have to drop by your area and let ya have a looksy!

And are you really gonna do a TII swap? My buddy's getting an S5 and he says if the front end is too damaged to repair then, he would consider doing an S5 into GSL-SE!

WEll I guess I was wrong... so here are some pics!

I had this one made in steel just to see how well it fit, I could have one made up in aluminum no problems but, I was thinking I might use this steel dash as a mold to lay some fiber glass in. This should be realatively easy to do in glass. I might try tomorrow, not much more I can do with my car until a few parts arrive.

looks good. altho you might want to make it go around the steering colum, bevel the bottem edge and go under a wee bit to cover more of the wires.

the way it is right now looks good. some gauges would be nice

are you going to cut holes to fit guages?

Right now the dash kinda goes behind the steering wheel switches and what not. I was thinking about making som sort of shroud to go on top to cover the nasty stuff rond the steering wheel.

the whole thing is not attached at this point and I haven't even begun to sort out all the spagetti mound of wires sitting in there right now. I'm gonna get to that shortly.

ANd guages would be very nice! I would cut some holes if I had some nice guages to throw in there. Currently I'm almost broke so the after market guages are gonna have to wait a while. If I only had about 3k cash I could be very satisfied....
