Wont START!!!!!

ok go everything hooked up correctly, not backwards anymore, i go to start it and all i get is the fuel pump, thats it, not even a click from the starter.
so i took the starter and tranny harness out(79) and replaced it with the ones out of my 80, still nothing ( the blue and white wire isnt hooked upto the starter with either harness, think this might be it), when i had the battery hooked up backwards the engine cranked over, and the blue and white wire wasnt hooked up then either, so, im confused and any input or ideas on what might e the problem is greatly appreciated

thanks

look in the hayes manual they have full wiring diagrams

if you dont have one, go to the parts store, they will let you look in it and write down what you need..

try checking the thick wire between the negitive battery post and the starter ground. it is aluminum so when it gets old it gets brittle and can crack.

Try checking the main ground from the battery.....that was my problem. It loook good put after I cleaned it up ,,,,,ZOOM ZOOM! Also the positive has to be nice and clean. Check fusable links in the distribution box on the front drivers side shock tower. Use a volt meter and see where you are getting power to, if you are getting power. If you hooked up the battery backwards you most likely fried fusable link(s). Just guessing, it could be alot of different things. You just have to go through ALL the different things that people suggest, even the most simpliest ones

yeah, the blue and white wire, that is the ignition wire, conects to a fuseable link and goes to the starter, it aparenty needs to be ther, cause i put some wire inbetween the two points and walla, now i need to get a new cap and rotor, and hopefully it will start.

thanks for all your input, and help
