won't pass 55mph???

Okay my 83 kicks in some good power once i get it running in the morning and after about 10mins of driving she totally sucks *** on the road. I try stepping on the gas and she studders. Its even worst on the highway to college when the speed limit is 65mph and she hits 55mph then begins to slow down with my dame foot stepped all the way down on the gas.

What suggestions i've gotten on the forum. Here they are, fuel filter, adjust the gas cable, the secondaries, catalyic converter. I've tried every one of the these suggestion and none have resolved my problem.

One thing that i've been taking into consideration in doing is replacing the return fuel line because she gets horrible gas mileage i mean like 8 mile to the gallon. yup its bad. I've noticed that the front fuel bowl has been getting full and know its supposed to be only at half.

Any help will be cool!!! thanks...

Its probably flooding like a ****. My carb 12aa gets 23+ mpg. It should always be in the middle, both front and back. Float issues? Do you have time to do a carb rebuild? I think you need to. I'll bet you could pump the gas peddle while its running and cause the same prob.

have you pulled the plugs, will show if running rich, inspect the check and cut valve (by fuel pump) goes on one way only so make sure , and your cats not clogged.

Also when mine "ice's up" it will display that behavior. Not that yours is iceing, but that its flooding bad. Carb kits are cheap and they arent that hard to rebuild. Just make sure you have the room and time.

One question how are the spark plugs supposed to look? What can be a cause for the floats to fill up?

not wet or black, brown/tan good, needle stuck in seat, gummed carb, sometimes just tapping above where the the float is will release the needle.
the bowl overflowing is from a stuck needle...in most cases anyway....

Amazing no one has suggested one of your coils is bad.
One of my coils went bad and my car was doing the same thing yours is. Pull the wire from one coil (at the coil, not the dizzy) and have someone crank the engine, you should see sparks all over the place, if not then you have a bad coil. If you see them, then test the other one.
Just my two cents as usuall.
