Wish me luck, big AutoX comp tomorrow!

Tomorrow will be the acid test for all the upgrades that I have done in the past month. Since the last time I autoXed my car, I've converted to DLIDFIS, installed my RB header and presilencer, swapped out my old axle for a disc/LSD equipped '81 axle, and removed the rear sway bar.

Hopefully all these changes will prove themselves worthwhile tomorrow. I'd just like to throw a thank you out to those that have helped my out with the myriad of questions that I have posed. Special props go out to RX7Carl for his suspension and carb help, and Jeff20B for the DLIDFIS write-up.

Thanks a bunch guys. Without the people on this forum, and www.mazspeed.com, I wouldn't still be doing the rotary thing.

I never tried autox yet... looks fun, since it isn't all about power, but power, handeling, and driver skill. I'm gonna have to see what I can find around the ***-crack of CO. Probably not much, I fear. Anyways, good luck, and don't oversteer in the sharpies! :P

Well, day 1 is over, and I'm doing pretty good. The car is handling well, and I'm slowly relearning how to drive it after all the changes I've made.

Deleting the rear bar made a huge difference, as did the LSD, because now I can make some power coming out of turns, instead of peg-legging it.

Here's a couple small pics:

And my imagestation.com account, with all the pics I've taken so far:

I'm uploading now, so the link will be active in about 1/2 hour

What are the requirements for most autox events safety-wise?

good brakes, tires, nothing that can move around inside; they check and make sure everything is in good working order...i.e. (steering, suspension, motor mounts, etc.). depending on what you have done determines what class you run in. but you can have a completely stock car and run. they even have loaner helmets. i just got back from the 24hour auto-x here. it was a blast. too bad my car was outta commision. SOME NICE MIATAS THOUGH. pssst pssssst!

I believe that this is done to counter the oversteer that us FBers experience... Althouh, I might be wrong because I'm still learning about suspension in my 7

Well, I did pretty well, especially considering that I wasn't prepped nearly to the max in my class. I was also running street tires this year, which slows you down considerably. I should have some neat video available soon of my car on a run.
