Wiring fun! (Not for the faint)

Well the time came to start removing wiring. No reason for most of the stock electrical as I am simplifing things down as much as possible. Going to rewire most of the car.

Things I have to rewire: headlights (non pop up CPracing kit), horn, front bumper lights, tail lamps, engine, fuel sending unit, and a couple other minor odds and ends.

Totally worth going through the wiring and eliminating most of it now.

Should be a blast getting everything to work the way I want it to, but I have the whole winter for that... Worth it for the long run....

Yeah it's ALOT of work, the pictures are just getting started. I'm going to have alot of headaches this winter rewiring it back up, but have to look at finished product. Nice simplified harness.

Heres a couple pictures of the engine bay I took a little while ago here.

TII transmission with a scattershield. Used the GSL-SE crossmember, drilled a hole in the center of it and spaced it out. To be honest it was ALOT easier to mount than I expected. Just drop the engine and trans in together, trying to bolt the trans up from under the car can be a total nightmare.

Ah the memories of a few month back .. ehh wait ... I'm still not done mine neither lol. Actually I'm basically done all the interior stuff, just have the engine bay to organize.

What I found out on mine was that there is alot of unessary wires from behing the cluster area, to the passenger side, and out to the engine bay. The way my harness is, I have absolutely no stock wires coming out of the passenger side, so if its suppose to work as stock (Like stock gauge cluster stuff) all i have to trouble shoot is one side and thats the driver side.

For everything else (Computer, Megasquirt, relays) are all run by the passenger side. I fins seperating the harnesses like that is much better and easier troubleshooting and neater. Now the only place that they might have to merge in is at the middles of the engine bay for a few sensors on the engine bay and for injectors. Bu still I have would have my whole harness bassically set up as a "T" shape looking at the car from the front.

Dan, when you get to the headlight wiring make sure you take the time to install relays. Makes an incredible difference in lighting output!

You might need 8 of them:

4 - power windows if you have them
2 - Headlights (Low/High)
1 - fuel pump
1 - E-Fan if you have one

Buy them with the 12" pigtails from ebay. Just makes things look a little nicers.

PS: Dan If you can backtrack the Coolant temperature sensor and to where it goes, that would be great. For some reason I think that I disconeected it by mistake and don't really know which one exactly it goes back into. I think the wire is blue and white or something like that. I'll talk to you on msn though

Nice job. I'm going through the same at the moment, so I know what's it like When you're finished, the engine bay looks SOOOO much cleaner. Right now I'm keeping the pop-uplights (so need some more wires) because there's nothing decent around overhere (Europe) and building my own alternative isn't cheap either.
I relocated the battery at the same time, and most relays are moved out of the bay too.
I like the alternator relocation on your engine too. Keeps everything looking cleaner.
